Raindrop
Technique is a powerful technique using essential oils developed by Dr. Gary
Young in the 1980’s It combines several modalities to bring balance and
transformation, to support body systems on a physical & emotional level. It
combines unique, targeted massage with pure, authentic essential oils for a
deeply harmonizing rejuvenating and relaxing experience. The technique is
developed by Young Living Founder and CEO Dr. Gary Young. He draws from his
experience with Lakota wellness traditions and provides a revolutionary means
of aligning the body and mind. Using essential oils is an ancient practice in
the early days dated back to Egypt. This practice is “natural” & “safe”. It
is called RAINDROP THERAPY. It uses Essential Oils which promote energy &
vitality, Essential Blends for balancing & rejuvenating the mind & body
and Massage oils to bring about balance & electrical alignment
What
is Raindrop Technique?
This
technique involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the spine, neck
and feet. The session lasts about an hour however the benefits may last up to a
week or more.
Gary
Young found that combining several holistic
techniques, described below, created a synergistic effect for the body. The three
modalities that combine to form Raindrop Technique are:
·
Aromatherapy – Raindrop technique
uses seven single essential oils, two blends and one essential oil massage
blend during the session. It is congruent with the French application of
aromatherapy where essential oils are applied NEAT (undiluted) to the body.
·
Vita Flex Technique – Vita Flex was brought to the US
in the 1920s by Stanley Burroughs. It is an ancient Tibetan methodology meaning
"vitality through the reflexes". Its theory is based on the fact that
slight pressure applied to the body creates an electric charge that is
therapeutic to the body. This is known as piezoelectric.
·
Feather Stroking - This is similar to
a massage term technique called effleurage. But this technique was actually
termed by the Native American Indians.
How does Raindrop get
its Name?
Essential oils are actually dropped from
about 6 inches above your spine, simulating rain drops gently striking your spine,
and it is very relaxing and comforting.
When the oils interact with a
person's electric field before penetrating to the skin, it enhances the electromagnetic
properties of the oils.
What are the Benefits of Raindrop Technique?
There
are numerous benefits of the
Raindrop Technique.
~Balance and Re-align the Energy Centers of the Body – The combination of
techniques brings electrical and structural alignment to the body. The
essential oil blend of Valor helps the body to align
~Non-Manipulative Technique – No manipulation as
in chiropractic is performed. The oils help support the body to come back into
balance by opening energy flow throughout the body.
~Reduce Stress and Minor Anxiety - These oils enhance
positive emotions such as joy and happiness, but they can also help us release
negative emotions that are subconsciously stored on a cellular level.
~Aid the Body's Natural Response to Irritation and Injury – Thyme and Oregano
support the immune, respiratory, nervous, and other body systems. They are
strong antioxidants.
~Eases Muscle Discomfort after Exercise – Muscles that are
tense and in minor discomfort due to exercise will also benefit. Basil,
Wintergreen, Marjoram, Cypress and Peppermint essential oils may reduce
tension. See the section on oils for muscles for more information!
~Support Healthy Immune System – Thyme and Oregano
essential oils support a healthy immune system.
~Emotional Well Being and Release – Essential oils
effect the limbic system where emotions are stored in the "brain's
emotional computer".
~Help Detox the Body Systems – The oils being high
in phenols may cleanse cellular receptor sites and enhance cleansing of the
body.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
A
Raindrop treatment typically lasts anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes.
You
can receive a Raindrop treatment weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or seasonally.
Each person's needs are different. Listen to your body.
The
Raindrop Technique uses only pure, therapeutic grade essential oils from Young
Living Essential Oils. These oils are guaranteed to be free from chemical
adulterations. Young Living Essential Oils have the highest
quality standards.
Raindrop
is not a cure-all but is a very powerful tool that has been known to help with
the following conditions (highlighted are the ones I have personally
witnessed):
arthritis, asthma, back pain, boosts the
immune system, brain injury, breast cancer, bronchitis, chronic fatigue, chronic skin disorders, circulation, cold feet, colds, concussions, dowager's hump, ear infections, emotional issues, fibromyalgia, flu, headache,
herniated disc, infertility, kyphosis, Lyme
disease, lymphoma, MS, muscle pain, muscular dystrophy, neck pain, nerve pain, night sweats, neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, rash,
sciatic pain, scoliosis, shingles, sinus infection, sleep disorders, sore throat,
spinal meningitis, stiffness (hips/shoulders), stress (physical/emotional), thyroid cancer, toxic symptoms, viral
infections, vision, whiplash, wrist pain, yeast infection, and much
more.
The
standard Raindrop Technique uses Valor (blend), Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress,
Wintergreen, Marjoram, Aroma Siez (blend) and Peppermint.
For
certain conditions, other essential oils can be substituted to target the needs
of the individual.
Many
people report feeling "energy" running through their bodies during
the Raindrop Technique. The Raindrop Technique re-establishes the natural flow
of inner energy. Metal can affect the flow of this current, so please removal
all jewellery before the session (if it is easily removable).
The
oils are in every cell of your body within 20 minutes of application. However,
many people love to leave the essential oils on their skin for as long as
possible.
Advisable
to shower before the treatment
Some of the essential oils used
in the Raindrop Technique are warming to the skin. Oregano is considered 'hot'
oil. This will be skin tested on the inside of your arm for possible skin
sensitivity before each and every Raindrop treatment. If you do experience any
itching, prickling, or heat on your skin, the practitioner will be able to
easily cool the area down using a vegetable (carrier) oil... but only if you tell her!
Through the experience of the therapist, precautions will be taken for
hot oils
It
should be noted that the Raindrop Technique encourages the detoxification of
the body. Some may experience mild side effects. These mild side effects may
include, emotional release/mood swing, headache, tiredness, sinus drainage,
skin rash, soreness or strong smelling urine/stool. Most symptoms will pass
in a day or two.
Some
may feel relaxed, have a keen sense of awareness, or may be energized. Each
person's experience will vary due to varying life circumstances of the
individual.
It
is impossible to avoid toxic exposure in today's world. It is in the food
we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. These chemicals can build
up in the body's tissues and pave the way for dis-ease.
Due
to the penetrating properties of the essential oils, it is possible that you
will experience a mild to moderate 'detox' after your first few Raindrop
treatments if you either have an overload of toxins in your body or your body's
channel of elimination (urine, bowel, breath, skin) are not working optimally.
You
have a good chance of detoxing if you:
§ Have worked with a lot of chemicals, e.g.
hairdresser, housecleaner
§ Have taken regular pharmaceutical or
recreational drugs, or are a smoker
§ Have had a recent acute or long-term illness
§ Have a history of skin rash or headaches
You
may wish to put these couple of suggestions into practice a week or two before
your appointment.
§ The best advice is to drink plenty of
filtered water before and after your Raindrop session. Ensure you have
regular (daily) bowel movements.
Massage Questions Answered
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are performed on the back of body and legs
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders.
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
